On Thursday, September 24th, His Holiness Pope Francis will address a joint session of Congress. See what Stephen Colbert had to say when asked what single message Congress must hear from the Pope.
According to Colbert, "The corrupting influence of money in politics [prevents] action from Congress that looks out for average people." It's a sentiment that Pope Francis already expressed in March when he warned that "in the financing of electoral campaigns, many interests get into the mix, and then they send you the bill.” His Holiness went on to call for publicly financed campaigns and urged that “everything needs to be transparent and clean.” That was in Argentina; now, he's coming to Washington, DC.
Together with Stephen Colbert, we respectfully petition Pope Francis to bring our reform message straight to Capitol Hill. Will you add your name below?
